N : Once upon a time, in a little fishing village,

teasing a turtle.

Children stand around Turtle and tease (not real) at C.

TARO walks slowly from L to C.

UE : "Hey boys! Don't do that. Release the turtle, please."
UJ : KORA YAMENASAI

Children run away to L. TARO turns Turtle to R.

N : URASHIMATAROU sent children back to the village and put the turtle back to the sea.

Turtle swims to R (Like a breast stroke).

N : A few days later, he was out fishing when the turtle came to him.

TARO uses a fishing rod at L. Turtle swims from R to L.

TE : "Thank you for rescuing me the other day. To show my thanks, let me take you to the palace at the bottom of the sea. Would you climb on my back."

TJ : ARIGATOU OREINI RYUU GUU JOUE OTSURE SHIMASU

TARO Climbs on the back of Turtle (Carrying).

Turtle walks around with TARO.

N : URASHIMATAROU went to the palace on the back of the turtle. The journey was beautiful.

Fishes walk around (Like a swimming). Turtle still carries TARO.

TE : "Look! That is the palace. The princess is waiting for you."

TJ : RYUU GUU JOU DESU OTOHIME SAMAGA MATTE IMASU

Fishes go away to L. Princess stand at R.

TARO and Turtle go to Princess.

N : When URASHIMATAROU arrived at the palace, the beautiful princess welcomed him with smile.

Princess bows. Attendants of Princess stand behind Princess.

PE : "I am the princess. Thank you for rescuing the turtle."

PJ : OTOHIME DESU KAMEO TASUKETE KURETE ARIGATOU

Fishes put the meals (not real)at C.

N : In the palace, there were the wonderful meals which he had never seen before. The beautiful ladies and fish danced with music.

Dancers dance. Fishes walk around. TARO and Princess have the meals. Attendants of Princess always stand behind Princess.

UE : "It's very interesting. This is first time to have such a great time."

UJ : KONNANI TANOSHII NOWA HAJIMETEDA

N : The time passed VERY quickly.

Dancers stop dancing. Dancers and Fishes go away to both sides.

Attendants of Princess hand the box to Princess.

Princess and TARO stand at C.

UE : "I have stayed long enough. I have to go home."

UJ : IENI KAERANAKEREBA NARIMASEN

Princess hands the box to TARO.

PE : "This is a token of my gratitude. But remember never open this box.

NEVER open this box"

PJ : ZETTAINI AKENAIDE KUDASAI

Turtle goes to TARO.

N : Then URASHIMATAROU said good-bye. He climbed on the back of the turtle to go back to his village.

Princess goes away to R. Turtle carries TARO and walks around.

Fishes walk around (Like a swimming) and put the meals away.

N : When URASHIMATAROU arrived at his village, he was confused.

Turtle goes away to R. Fishes goes away to both sides.

TARO walks around with the box (unsteady) as looking for something.

N : Because landscape of his village was completely changed. He could not find his house.

Person in the village walks from L to TARO.

N : URASHIMATAROU called someone who came by.

UE : "Where is the house of URASHIMATAROU?"

UJ : URASHIMATAROU NO IEWA DOKO DESUKA

VE : "I have heard he disappeared MANY YEARS AGO."

VJ : ZUTTO MUKASHINI INAKUNATTA SOUDESU

Person in the village goes away to R.

N : URASHIMATAROU thought that while he stayed at the palace, the time of this village passed quicker than the bottom of the sea.

TARO looks at the box in his hands.
